Language Selector allows students to change the default language of their WebCT screens. A default language is only specified if more than one language is available in your course. For more information on setting the default language, see Course Settings - Language.

If you want to allow your students to view their course in a language other than the default, you need to add the Language Selector tool to your course. For more information about adding Language Selector, see Add Page or Tool. Only screen elements such as menus and buttons appear in the selected language. Course files and text added by users (e.g. content pages, Mail and Discussions messages, and icon labels), remain in the language in which they were created.

As a designer, you can also override the language default once Language Selector is added to your course:

1. From the Course Menu or Homepage, click Language Selector. The Language Selection screen appears.
2. From the Select a language for the designer view drop-down list, select the language in which you want to view your course.
3. Click Update. The screen refreshes and WebCT is presented in the new language.
