You can choose the color for text, links, visited links, and background for your course. You can either choose from predefined color schemes or create a custom color scheme. Note: Depending on administrator settings, the high contrast color scheme may be the default and you will not be able to change course colors.

Choosing a predefined color scheme | Top

You can choose one of the predefined color schemes for your course. Note: Depending on administrator settings, the high contrast color scheme may be the default and you will not be able to change course colors.

  1. From the Control Panel, click Course Settings. The Course Settings screen appears.
  2. Under Customize Course Appearance, click Customize course colors. The Customize Course Colors screen appears, displaying the predefined color schemes.
  3. In the Color Set column, click the link for the color scheme that you want to use. The color scheme is previewed in the Colors column.
  4. Click Update. The chosen color scheme is applied.

Choosing the high contrast color scheme | Top

In compliance with the US Rehabilitation Act, Section 508, WebCT offers a color scheme that provides high contrast between background and foreground elements in course content pages. This high contrast color scheme allows users who have difficulty distinguishing colors to use WebCT. Note: Depending on administrator settings, this may be the default color scheme.

  1. From the Control Panel, click Course Settings. The Course Settings screen appears.
  2. Under Customize Course Appearance, click Customize course colors. The Customize Course Colors screen appears.
  3. In the Color Set column, click High contrast. The high contrast color scheme is displayed under Color Preview.
  4. Click Update. The high contrast color scheme is applied to all content pages and Organizer pages of your course.

Creating a custom color scheme | Top

You can create a custom color scheme for your course by selecting the colors for text, links, visited links, and background. Note: Depending on administrator settings, this feature may not be available. The high contrast color scheme may be the default.

  1. From the Control Panel, click Course Settings. The Course Settings screen appears.
  2. Under Customize Course Appearance, click Customize course colors. The Customize Course Colors screen appears.
  3. In the Color Set column, click Custom.
  4. Under Color Preview, click either (Edit Text Color) or (Edit Background Color) for the element you want to change.
  5. Specify a color:
    • To use the color palette, click the color you want. The color appears in the preview frame.
    • To enter an RGB color value, in the Color Value text box, enter the value of the color and click Preview. The color appears under Color Preview.
  6. Click Update. A preview of your color choice appears.
  7. For each element that you want to change, repeat steps 4 through 6.
  8. Click Update. The custom color scheme is applied.
Choosing the server default color scheme | Top

You can also choose the color scheme that is selected by the WebCT administrator. This color scheme is the default for the WebCT server. The colors are applied to the top menu frame and side navigation frame, not the content area.

  1. From the Control Panel, click Course Settings. The Course Settings screen appears.
  2. Under Customize Course Appearance, click Customize course colors. The Customize Course Colors screen appears.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, click Server default. The color scheme for the server is applied to the course.
