Course Design Center

Note: Depending on administrator settings, this feature may not be available.

Your WebCT course can contain elements, such as a homepage, syllabus, and content. To create these elements, you use the corresponding WebCT tool. For example, to create a homepage which is the first page that students see when they access your course, use the Homepage tool. Or, to create a syllabus that provides course information, goals, and policies, use the Syllabus tool. You can either use the WebCT tools directly or use the Course Design Center. The Course Design Center consists of a set of wizards. Each wizard provides step-by-step instructions on using a tool. If you are new to WebCT, we recommend that you use the Course Design Center.

The Course Design Center contains wizards for the following WebCT tools:

  • Homepage
  • Organizer Page
  • Syllabus
  • Content Module
  • Discussions
  • Mail
  • Calendar
  • Chat

You can use any of the wizards from start to finish, or you can save your work in a wizard and return to it later. You can also make further modifications to a tool after you leave the wizard. For example, you can use the Syllabus wizard to add information about course goals and policies. Afterward, you can go directly to the Syllabus tool and add information about textbooks.

Notes:

  • For some of the wizards, you can import .html, htm, or .txt files.
  • If you are using a screen reader to access your WebCT course, you must change a course setting before you can use the Course Design Center. For more information, see the Help topic, Disabling Dynamic HTML in Wizards.
