Editing the Table of Contents and Action Menu

 Changing the location of the Action Menu |  Top

You can choose how the Action Menu on each page of content is displayed to your students. Note: For more information, see Action Menu.

  1. From the Course Menu, click Content Module. The Content Module screen appears.
  2. Click the Designer Options tab if it is not already selected.
  3. Under Options: Content Module, click Edit Content Module settings. The Content Module Settings screen appears.
  4. Under Action Menu, select the location of the Action Menu. You can choose to:
    • display the Action Menu above each page.
    • display the Action Menu to the left of each page. Note: You can specify the width in pixels.
    • hide the Action Menu.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click Update. The Content Module screen appears.
  6. To view the new Action Menu, click the View tab, and then click a page of content.

Changing what appears on the Action Menu | Top

You can choose to display links to tools such as Index, Glossary, Mail,or Discussions on the Action Menu.

  1. From the Course Menu, click Content Module. The Content Module screen appears.
  2. Click the Designer Options tab if it is not already selected.
  3. Under Options: Content Module, click Edit Content Module settings. The Content Module Settings screen appears.
  4. Under Action Menu, select the items that you want to appear on the Action Menu of all content pages. To remove an item from the Action Menu, clear the item's check box.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click Update. The Content Module screen appears.
  6. To view the new Action Menu, click the View tab, and then click a page of content.

Displaying the Table of Contents on content pages| Top

The Table of Contents is displayed on the Content Module screen, but you can also display it on every content page. Note: For more information on the Table of Contents, see About Content Module.

  1. From the Course Menu, click Content Module. The Content Module screen appears.
  2. Click the Designer Options tab if it is not already selected.
  3. Under Options: Content Module, click Edit Content Module settings. The Content Module Settings screen appears.
  4. Under Table of Contents, select the location of the Table of Contents. You can choose to:
    • display the Table of Contents to the left of each page. Note: You can specify the width in pixels.
    • hide the Table of Contents.
  5. Click Update. The Content Module screen appears.
  6. To see the student view, click the View tab, and then click a page of content.

Selecting a start page | Top

You can select what students see first when entering the Content Module: the first document listed in the Table of Contents, or the Table of Contents itself. Note: This setting only applies to the student view. As a designer, the Table of Contents is always presented to you as the start page in both View and Designer Options. For more information on the Table of Contents, see About Content Module.

  1. From the Course Menu, click Content Module. The Content Module screen appears.
  2. Click the Designer Options tab if it is not already selected.
  3. Under Options: Content Module, click Edit Content Module settings. The Content Module Settings screen appears.
  4. Under Table of Contents, select what the student sees first when entering the Content Module:
    • The first document listed in the Table of Contents.
    • The Table of Contents.
  5. Click Update. The Content Module screen appears..

Changing how headings are numbered | Top

  1. From the Course Menu, click Content Module. The Content Module screen appears.
  2. Click the Designer Options tab if it is not already selected.
  3. Under Options: Content Module, click Edit Content Module settings. The Content Module Settings screen appears.
  4. Under Table of Contents, under Page numbering, select how you want the items in the Table of Contents numbered:
    • Number the items in the Table of Contents. In the Initial Value text box, use the default starting number "1" or enter a different starting number.
    • Hide the page numbering
  5. Click Update. The Content Module screen appears and the Table of Contents is updated.
