Students
who have taken online courses talk about the disadvantages of distance
learning:
Procrastination
"The main problem is that it's too easy to procrastinate because you don't
have to go to class three times a week. The work piles up fast and then
it's too late to catch up." "I thought online courses would have
less work but there is actually more."
Isolation
"I like to work in study groups. Our professor organized study groups
for us, but the other students did not want to 'meet' in a chat room.
I like to share ideas and discuss coursework face to face. I usually have
to wait a day or two to get answers to my questions."
Technical
Problems
"Sometimes my computer crashed or the server was down. It's super frustrating
and you can get really stressed out when you have an assignment due and
the technology doesn't work. My instructor was understanding though.
