A sociological examination of the nature, causes and consequences of, and potential solutions for, social problems. Attention will be focused on problems of deviant behavior, structural problems, problems of inequality, institutional problems, and global survival problems. Prerequisite: SOC110 3 credits.

Students will:

Gain knowledge of the sociological framework for social problems
Gain a working knowledge of current social problems
Make connections between theory and practice in sociology
Be able to utilize theory and literature to formulate possible social solutions Weekly message board discussions, quizzes and a paper.
A is 95-100 points
A-is 89-94 points
B+is 86-88 points
B is 82-85 points
B- is 79-81 points
C+ is 76-78 points
C is 72-75 points
C- is 69-71 points
F Anything under 69 points
