Internet Explorer
Enable Java
On a PC, please follow these steps:
Select Tools then choose Internet Options. The Internet Options screen appears.
Select the Security tab.
Click the Custom Level button. The Security Settings screen appears.
Look for the Java Permissions section.
If the section does not exist, continue to the next step.
If the section exists, choose Low, Medium or High safety
Click OK. The Internet Options screen appears.
Click OK.
On a Mac, please follow these steps:
From the menu bar select Explorer then choose Preferences
Select the arrow next to Web Browser to expand the options
Select Java
Under Java Options select the option Enable Java
Click OK
Enable JavaScript
On a PC, please follow these steps:
Select Tools then choose Internet Options. The Internet Options screen appears.
Select the Security tab.
Click the Custom Level button. The Security Settings screen appears.
Scroll down to Scripting, and enable Active Scripting and Scripting of Java Applets.
Click OK. The Internet Options screen appears.
Click OK.
On a Mac, please follow these steps:
From the Explorer or Edit menu, select Preferences
Select the arrow next to Web Browser to expand the options
Select Web Content
Under Active Content, select Enable Scripting.
Click OK
Set Browser cache
On a PC, please follow these steps:
Select Tools then choose Internet Options. The Internet Options screen appears.
Select the General tab.
Under Temporary Internet Files, select Settings. The Settings screen appears.
Select the Automatically radio button.
Click OK. The Internet Options screen appears.
Click OK.
On a Mac, please follow these steps:
From the Explorer or Edit menu, select Preferences.
Select the arrow next to Web Browser to expand the options.
Select Advanced.
Under Cache select the Always option.
Click OK.
Enable Cookies
On a PC, please follow these steps:
- Click the Advanced button
- Select Override automatic cookie handling
- Select Always allow session cookies
- Click OK to return to the Privacy Tab
Select Tools then choose Internet Options
Select the Privacy tab
Enable Cookies:
If using a default setting, move the slider to select any of the following privacy settings:
Medium High
Medium
Low
Accept all cookies
If using a custom setting:
Click Apply then OK
On a Mac, please follow these steps:
From the menu bar select Explorer then choose Preferences
Select the arrow next to Receiving Files to expand the options
Select Cookies
Select the When receiving cookies option to Never Ask
Click OK
Firefox
Enable Java
On a PC, please follow these steps to Enable both Java and Java Script
Click on Tools
Select Options
Click the Content Tab
Select the Enable JavaScript tick box
Select the Enable Java tick box
Click on the Advanced tab beneath the Exceptions tab
Make sure the following checkboxes are selected, if shown:
- Move or resize existing windows
- Hide the status bar
- Change the status bar text
- Change images
- Click OK, then click OK again
On a Mac, please follow these steps
Test for Java. See if you can load a java applet of this puzzle or this magic cube. We link to two applets because the sites are occasionally not available. If you can't access one, try the other.
If you don't see the puzzle or cube, you must download a Java software update for Mac.
For Mac OS X, download and install the latest version of Java for Mac OS X.
Enable JavaScript
On a PC, please follow these steps:
- Move or resize existing windows
- Hide the status bar
- Change the status bar text
- Change images
From the Tools menu, select Options.
In the left-hand pane, click Web Features.
Make sure the Enable Javascript checkbox is selected.
Click the Advanced button.
Make sure the following checkboxes are selected, if shown:
Click OK, then click OK again.
On a Mac, please follow these steps:
From the Firefox menu, select Preferences
In the left-hand pane, click Web Features
Make sure the Enable Java and Enable Javascript checkboxes are selected
Click OK
Enable Cookies
On a PC, please follow these steps:
- Allow sites to set cookies or
- for the originating website only
From the Tools menu, select Options
In the left-hand pane, click Privacy
Select Enable cookies for the originating website only
To expand the Cookies section, click the plus sign (+) next to Cookies
Make sure one or both of the following checkboxes are selected:
Click OK
On a Mac, please follow these steps:
- Allow sites to set cookies
- for the originating website only
From the Firefox menu, select Preferences
In the left-hand pane, click Privacy
To expand the Cookies section, click the arrow next to Cookies.
Make sure one or both of the following checkboxes are selected:
Click OK
Safari
Enable Java
From the Safari menu, select Preferences
In the top pane, select Security
Next to Web Content, make sure the Enable Java checkbox is selected
Close the pop-up window.
Enable JavaScript
From the Safari menu, select Preferences
In the top pane, select Security
Next to Web Content, make sure the Enable Javascript checkbox is selected
Close the pop-up window.
Enable Cookies
From the Safari menu, select Preferences
In the top pane, select Security
Next to Accept Cookies, select either Always or Only from sites you navigate to.
Close the pop-up window.
